FAQ

From onboarding to billing, here’s what teams ask us most.

What is SureSIM?
SureSIM is a software-defined enterprise eSIM platform that combines global mobile data connectivity with a cloud-based management portal. It’s designed to give IT and travel risk teams complete visibility and control over mobile data for users across the world, from a single agreement and platform.

SureSIM Global is a primary or secondary data SIM for internationally travelling employees – typically executives, VIPs and frequent travellers. SureSIM Protect is a backup connectivity SIM for users whose role depends on staying connected, switching automatically to a backup network when their primary network fails. SureSIM IoT is designed for field workers with tablets and ruggedised devices, and for M2M/IoT deployments such as connected vehicles, routers and EPOS systems.

No. SureSIM is natively delivered via eSIM but is also available as a physical SIM card for legacy or non-eSIM compatible devices. Both delivery formats provide access to the same full platform capabilities.
SureSIM is developed and supported by Utelize Mobile, a British Growth Fund (BGF) portfolio company established in 2010. Utelize is the UK’s leading pure-play enterprise mobility management firm and holds ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation.
How many destinations does SureSIM cover?
The Enterprise Shared Global Plan provides coverage in 200+ global destinations, with access to over 450 local carrier networks. A small number of additional destinations fall within the Premium Zone and are available at a separate per-MB rate.
In the UK, SureSIM provides access to all four major networks – EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three.
The Premium Zone covers a set of destinations where data costs are higher due to carrier pricing. Premium Zone usage is charged at £0.50/MB (or $0.65/MB) and is not included in the shared data allowance. It can be barred at a connection or account level and capped per user if required.
Yes. The platform allows Premium Zone barring, country-level restrictions and zone-level policy controls, all configurable by your IT team in real time via the portal.
What does the SureSIM portal give IT teams visibility of?
The platform’s Live View provides real-time data including current country and active network, device details, SIM status, current month usage and cost history by country, compliance profile applied, and a 30-minute usage and activity tracker. Optional Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) categorisation and cell-tower location awareness data are also available.
SureSIM typically receives unbilled network usage data within 15 minutes of usage occurring. In exceptional circumstances this can take longer as data availability is dependent on network partners.
The platform supports usage and cost alerts, expenditure caps with automatic connection barring, data usage policy profiles (Open or Business), data speed throttling (to 512 kbps or 64 kbps), Premium Zone barring, and location-triggered messaging to users when they enter a new country.
The Open profile provides unrestricted access to all websites and applications including social media, streaming and gaming. The Business profile restricts usage to productivity and business tools – including Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, CRM platforms and maps – while blocking consumer content, streaming and social media. Profiles can be allocated per connection and switched automatically based on data consumption thresholds or SureSIM Zone.
Yes. SureSIM offers MS Intune integration to pull through device and user details, simplifying bulk eSIM deployment.
With appropriate end-user permissions, SureSIM can provide real-time cell-tower location data – typically accurate to town or city suburb level. This is available for SureSIM Protect and IoT deployments and supports travel risk management and ISO 31030 compliance. It is cell-tower based, not GPS.
How is the Enterprise Shared Global Plan priced?
SureSIM Enterprise pricing is tailored to your organisation’s usage profile, number of users and deployment requirements – so there’s no single off-the-shelf number that applies to every customer. The plan is structured around a monthly platform licence that includes a pool of shared global data, a set number of device licences, and 24/7/365 enterprise support. Excess data beyond the shared allowance is charged at a flat per-MB rate with no surprise tariff tiers or carrier bolt-ons.
To get an accurate picture of what SureSIM would cost for your organisation, speak to the team – most customers find the total cost compares very favourably against what they’re currently spending across multiple carriers.
Yes. Unused data from the shared monthly pool rolls over for one month.
Yes. Add-on licences are available in blocks.
SureSIM Global supports deployment to both corporate-managed and BYOD devices. Because SureSIM is billed and managed by the business, it removes the need for employees to reclaim roaming costs via expenses and eliminates the risk of users being data-barred when travelling on business.
The enterprise support model includes 24/7/365 helpdesk-to-helpdesk telephone and email support for technical and portal queries, with billing and administrative actions handled during UK business hours (9am–5:30pm, Monday–Friday, excluding bank holidays). This covers onboarding, platform training, bulk eSIM deployment, connectivity troubleshooting and network fault management.
Yes. The SureSIM Proof of Concept Guarantee allows any organisation to exit the service with no penalty if invoked at any point within the first three months, with the exit taking effect at the end of that initial PoC period. If the issue is addressable, SureSIM will first offer to restructure the service or commercial model before invoking the exit.
Why is SureSIM the ideal solution for IT Operations teams?
Because it replaces a fragmented mess of carrier portals, roaming bolt-ons, tariff plans and support escalations with a single platform, a single agreement and a single global tariff. IT teams get real-time visibility of every connection globally through Live View, policy and spend controls they can action in near real time, integrated Fortigate firewall protection, MS Intune compatibility, and a 24/7 helpdesk-to-helpdesk support line that actually picks up. No more chasing local carriers. No more bill shock post-trips. No more users going dark in high-risk locations. SureSIM gives IT the control they’ve always needed over global mobile connectivity – and the visibility to prove it’s working.
Because keeping people safe shouldn’t depend on whether their network happens to have signal. SureSIM Protect gives HR and travel risk teams Opt-In cell-tower location awareness for travelling employees – typically accurate to town or city suburb level – so they always have a live picture of where connected users are and whether they still have a data connection. Combined with automatic backup connectivity that kicks in when a primary network fails, and location messaging that alerts users when they land in a new country, SureSIM gives people risk teams a meaningful, verifiable safety layer for lone workers, international travellers and anyone operating in higher-risk environments. It directly supports ISO 31030 compliance and brings a new standard of duty of care to mobile connectivity management.
Because mobile data costs are one of the last genuinely uncontrolled line items on most enterprise IT budgets – and SureSIM fixes that completely. A single global tariff replaces unpredictable carrier roaming charges, daily passes and bolt-on fees across multiple providers. The shared data pool with automatic rollover means you’re not haemorrhaging budget on unused allowances. Expenditure caps prevent bill shock events before they happen. And real-time cost centre billing means finance always has an accurate, up-to-date view of mobile spend – by user, by department, by country.
Because field workers can’t afford to lose connectivity mid-job, and their existing single-network SIM is a single point of failure. SureSIM IoT provides unsteered multi-network access across all UK networks, ensuring devices always connect to the strongest available signal rather than a preferred carrier that may have no coverage at the location. For workers operating across Europe, SureSIM extends that multi-network resilience across most European countries on a single plan. And with SureSIM Protect running as automatic backup on their device, if the primary network drops, connectivity is restored without the worker needing to do anything. Whether it’s tablets, ruggedised handhelds, vehicle routers or Mi-Fi dongles – SureSIM keeps field teams connected and working.
